Grade Divisions
The following
divisions will be used for all EKJGA tournaments.
Boys will compete as
follows:
Grades 11-12 is one
division, Grades 9-10 is one division, Grades 7-8 is one
division
Grade 4-6 is one
division and Grades 3 and under is one division
Girls will compete as
follows:
Grades 10-12 is one
division, Grades 7-9 is one division
Grades
4-6 is one division, and Grade 3 and
under is one division
Boys and girls grade
4-6 will play only (9) holes and grades 3 and under will play
only (6) holes.
NOTE: A player may
play “UP” (in a higher division) if a request is made one week
prior to the
event.
Point System
Points will be awarded within each
division by use of the following formulas:
1st
place will receive 200 points. 6th
place will receive 50 points.
2nd
place will receive 175 points. 7th
place will receive 40 points.
3rd
place will receive 125 points. 8th
place will receive 30 points.
4th
place will receive 100 points. 9th
place will receive 20 points.
5th
place will receive 75 points. 10th
place will receive 10 points.
Player of the Year Awards
Player of the year honors will be
awarded to the junior(s) that accumulate the most points in his or her grade
division during the course of the tournament schedule.
Rules of Play
The
objective of the EKJGA is to teach young men and women how to play the game
in accordance with the rules of golf currently employed by all recognized
organizations including the Kentucky High School Athletic Association,
KHSAA. For that reason all EKJGA events will be played strictly in
accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf booklet, the decisions based on them,
and any EKJGA local rules adopted for a specific tournament site.
NOTE: In most cases that
means you will be playing the ball as it lies and the course as you find it.
Artificial Devices, Unusual
Equipment and Caddies
During a stipulated round a player
must not use any artificial devise or unusual equipment:
-
That might assist them in making
a stroke or determining a course of action
-
That might assist the player in
measuring distance or slope of the greens
(Distance measuring devices of
any type are not allowed)
-
That provide assistance in
gripping the club, except:
-
Plain gloves may be worn,
-
Resin, powder, drying and
moisturizing agents may be used and,
-
A towel or handkerchief may
be wrapped around the grip.
All
players must walk and carry their own clubs or use a pull cart.
Caddies are allowed for
the grade 3 and under division only!
Dress Code
Boys must wear a shirt with a collar
and sleeves. (T-shirts and tank tops are not allowed). Mock turtle shirts
are permissible. Blue Jeans are not permitted.
Girls must wear women’s golf type
shirts. (T-shirts and tank tops are not allowed). Mock turtle shirts are
permissible. Blue Jeans are not permitted.
All shorts must be golf type and
Bermuda length. Tennis shorts, gym shorts, and short shorts are not allowed.
Golf shoes or tennis shoes must be worn during play.
NOTE: All golf shoes must have
soft spikes…Metal spikes are not allowed at any EKJGA tour event.
Caps and visors must be worn properly
(not backwards) and must not contain any slogans or messages that could
reflect negatively on the player, their school, or the EKJGA.
Care of the Golf Course
It is essential to the EKJGA that you
take good care of the golf course. Please repair ball marks, replace divots,
rake bunkers, and put trash in the trash containers. We must remember we are
guests of our host club and we must do all that we can to show proper
respect for the course and its membership.
Conduct
Conduct detrimental to the EKJGA will
not be tolerated. Example of detrimental conduct are as follows:

Use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or
tobacco products.

Gambling.
-
Use of abusive language,
profanity, temper tantrums and/or club throwing
-
Abuse to the host facility
-
Failure to return a scorecard or
walking off the course without notification to a tournament official.

Unsportsmanlike conduct toward a
fellow player.
The EKJGA reserves the right to apply
penalties as deemed necessary by the EKJGA, including disqualification, for
any acts of detrimental conduct. In addition to possible disqualification
from a specific event, repeated acts of misconduct could result in loss of
all playing privileges for the year or permanent expulsion from the
Association.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome at all EKJGA
events. In order to gain control of any possible misconceptions as to the
communications between a player and a spectator the EKJGA requires the
spectators to follow these simple rules:

Spectators are not allowed to
give any advice to any player.

Spectators must stay at least 30
yards away from the players.

Spectators must stay off the
greens and tees.
Note: Spectators will be allowed to rent carts (depending on the
availability from each tournament site). We want as many parents and
grandparents, as possible, to come out and enjoy watching their favorite
junior. NOTE: At
locations where cart paths are provided, spectator carts must remain on the
path at all times.
